    Delta Queen asparagus is here! Grown in Stockton, Delta Queen asparagus is here! Grown in Stockton, California, this type of asparagus is said to be one of the sweetest and purest varieties.  Grown in peat soil that’s irrigated with the snow melting from the California Sierra, harvested and packed the same day for freshness. We currently have standard size sold by the case and bunches as well as jumbo, sold by the case!

The word garbanzo comes from Basque “garbantzu” which is a combination of the Basque words “garau” meaning seed and “antzu” meaning dry. However you choose to call them, we have them and we’re loving them!

    Stinging nettles from @knollorganics are here! For Stinging nettles from @knollorganics are here! For centuries, this herb has been used in both medicine and for food. Native to Europe and North Africa but due to its health benefits has been planted and now grows all over the world. As the name suggests, the plants’ leaves do contain stingers or hollow hairs. With a flavor similar to spinach and a peppery bite reminiscent of arugula, we’ve seen this herb being used to make pesto, incorporated into fresh pasta and we are curious as to what YOU might do with them?!

From classic cassoulet to ayocote morado to red popping corn, we’re super excited to supply you with these products! They all come in 1lb bags, we also have a 25lb bag of their cranberry beans!

These magnificent plants can grow up to 5 feet high and 4 feet wide! The spiny green stalks are reminiscent of a bunch of celery with a slightly bitter artichoke flavor. Once cleaned and blanched, these can turn into soup, breaded and fried Roman-style, baked or a hearty vegetable addition to risotto or pasta dishes!

These beauties are a combination of a pomelo, a mandarin and a blood orange and are called Valentine Pomelo because they are typically harvested around this time of year. They’re juicy, sweet, slightly bitter with a subtle, tart aftertaste. Get ‘em by the each or case!
    Fuyu persimmons are round and squat in shape simil Fuyu persimmons are round and squat in shape similar to a beefsteak tomato and have a honeyed, sweet taste. Fuyu persimmons are far less astringent compared to the hachiya variety which need to be fully ripe to be enjoyed. These can be enjoyed when firm and crisp or can be left to soften. Chefs, how are you using Fuyu persimmons?

Yamasei’s mustard powder is made from stone ground organic Barukan mustard seeds. To retain the mustard flavor, Yamasei takes great care when removing the oil and grinding the seeds to a paste which is then dried into a powder. Use sparingly (instructions on bag) to add spicy mustard flavor to your dishes!
    New from our friends @thejapanesepantry! Takehisa’s shiitake powder is made using mushrooms that slowly grow in the forest during the colder months resulting in more intense flavor and umami. Think of porcini powder but with a more woodsy, earthy flavor. Use to add a deep umami flavor and depth to your broths, stir fries, roasts or as marinade when salting meats. Sold by the pouch!
